"lay a whisper on my pillow"--roxette

hey hey,
so i realized that maybe i didn't even tell anyone what my job entails. basically, for all of the shows that NBC produces, (ie. Today, Conan, SNL, etc.) any music that is played on there has to be cleared by my department, it's actually more legal, but..whatever. I have to research a lot of music and pick up music scripts, etc. Right now i'm organizing the music scripts for conan's show...daang, whoever did that last really screwed it up. anyway, i get to work with all of the nightly shows, so hopefully soon i'll run into Conan or even some SNL cast. That would be neat. My boss also said if i ever wanted to look into any other areas i could, so i might have to take her up on that and go steal katie couric's job..haha! just kidding.

anyway, today i worked from 10-5 and on my way home, i couldn't cross the street (or so the NYPD said) because caddy corner from our studios is the Fox News Studio and there were plenty of people protesting against the conservatives, so it was very anti-Bush. The cops said no crossing, so i just walked down the block a few steps and crossed there..HAHA, i showed THEM! ;) j/k..it was just random..anyways, then i told my dad to look for me on tv since i was walking by the protesting. I came back and chilled out some before class..then we had class, but not really because it was more liek going over the class schedule, and the syllabus. super fun, and we got out at like 830 which was great. then a bunch of us went to get pizza, yum! $2.45/slice..yes that is cheap..haha

came back and just have been chillin' for awhile...i need to go hang up the rest of my clothes, but i have all day tomorrow to do that! yay, i dont' have to work!! :-) anyway, i think some of us are gonna go shopping, so yay!

i found out today i get off a whole week for thanksgiving!! and i dont' have class teh week of october 16 (so baylor people that's fall break..), either i want to come home or somebody come up here!! :)

miss y'all
peace out

"it's hard to say what it is i see in you, wonder if i'll always be with you"--sister hazel

hey y'all
well thanks to the wonderful world of the internet, i typed in my last entry and it got erased. so that's neat...i guess i will have to make this a little shorter.

Basically, it was my big day at NBC, i woke up on time, got ready, put on some black pants and button down shirt from j. crew (the maroon one, as red is my better color), got some jewelry and left. On the way, of course passing several FBI Agents and NYPD officers because the RNC (Rep. Natl Conv) is going on, so right now, NYC is probably a really safe place to be in. I got hit on, on the way to work by some old, bald man on a bicycle..pick up line: "hey gorgeous, how 'bout some breakfast?" [enter NY accent] ..and so yeah, i just kept walking. So I got to 30 Rock (the code name for Rockefeller Center...) and got registerd, I had to get a picture ID, so when the lady took my picture, she didn't warn me, and so i'm pretty sure i'm in mid-sentence..so neat. .i'll have an NBC badge, with a bad picture...*sigh*..anyways..

My bosses Cira and Amie are totally cool. I have a private nook with my own phone and television (which i am allowed to watch). I pretty much can make my own hours, get an hour lunch, blah, blah. i'm workign mondays, tuesdays and thursdays 10-4, and i have classes tues/weds from 7-1030..blah double time..plus i need to start working on my screenplay.

anyways, tonight, steph came over and we went to eat and walked around Times Square for a little bit, on the quest for new adidas sandals, which were not to be found..

of coures, my body clock is off still and it's almost 1am and i'm not tired in the least..awesome.

so tomorrow, i have NBC and class...probably either get a big subway sandwich and eat the rest for dinner, or try the thai place across the street...either way, decent dinner.

i have finally finished labeling my music that i ripped before coming ovre here..i have 1322 songs equaling 5.32 GB...thank you popular music world...

peace out
miss y'all

"but you always really knew, i just wanted to be with you"--the cranberries

hey hey

So what exactly did my exciting Sunday include today in the Big Apple? Not that much. I woke up late, lazed around, went to Rockefeller Center with Mark and Matt to make sure I wouldn't get too lost tomorrow on the way to work. Of course, passing by the entire NYPD and all security on the way. Yes, the RNC is here, and there are about 100 policemen surrounding our block, so we are feelin' pretty safe. haha. Then we went to some $1 store, and I bought some tupperware and laundry stuff. Came back here, and I have been basically labeling my songs that I ripped off my CDs before I came..yes for almost 5 or 6 hours straight. that's pretty sad. Anyways, just watching the MTV, VMAs and we had our little meeting for the 6th floor...that was really really long.

Anyways, tomorrow is the big day, yeah, when I start working at NBC. A little nervous? Maybe. Need to take a look at my wardrobe? Yes please.

So, I'm supposed to maybe have dinner or get a drink with Robin sometime this week, haven't seen him for about 7 years...Kelli said she wants to come visit, so yay!

Come visit me little friends!!

Miss ya

"dance, nothin' left for me to do, but dance"--jamiroquai

hey hey
soo, another day here. Today wasn't an overly exciting day, but it went by really quickly. My dad came by and we went to eat breakfast at McDonalds, then went walking downtown, around 5th ave. We were looking for a special gift, and found something really great. You know after all those jewelry stores, you'd think that we'd run into the Tiffanys, but i haven't seen it! I WILL go into that store before I leave..oh yes, I will. Even just to say that I've walked in and out, "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is a great movie and I love it...so hence, I must get to that store.

After that, we walked back to the hotel and rested for a bit, watched some of the Olympics and the tennis and golf matches. After that, we stopped into a corner store to pick me up some quick groceries, yay! food!! anyway, that was the closet place to get groceries that isn't 10 blocks away (Which by the way is only about 10 mins away, but still...10 blocks, 10 minutes with 2 bags + of groceries??) yeah..not in today's heat!! (And I thought I left Texas weather at home!!) Anyway, we dropped that off at my place (I want to call it apartment, but I guess i'll call it my place or room) and then went to this really great italian restaurant across the street before the first meeting we were to have for this trip...or..semester. Anyway, that meeting lasted about, oh, I don't know, 3 hours? We talked about the Subway, the Lambs (The place I'm staying, in case y'all don't know where I'm staying) I'm sure my dad loved that, but anyways..it was good to have that meeting. So I sent my dad off and he has to leave bright and early in the morning. :(

After that, I came up here and was just chillin' in the common room, and decided to go with some peeps to go see "Napolean Dynamite", which I know I've seen, but it is just a GREAT movie!! So, we took the V/F Line down to the Lower East Side (Yeah, make your East sign Texans), and got a little lost in "O-Ho" (Which is what we said we were walking on, since we weren't in NoHo or SoHo, but right on Houston Street (That's House-ton to all you Texans), but finally we found the Sunshine Theater, with a whole cheaper movie ticket of $.25..whoooo..only $10.25 for a movie ticket. haha..but anyways, back on the subway, and then back home. Now I'm sitting in the commons with Mark and Traci watching ALF on DVD..haha...what a great show, I think I might have been deprived overseas, but I did see my share of the show..

Anyways, tomorrow? Perhaps back to Rockefeller Center, some shopping and find Tiffanys?

I think I'm finally starting to feel like this is going to be my "home" for the next 3 months and I am going to have fun. You know, it's really just alive at all hours of the night. And I am a little nervous for this whole intern thing, as I've heard that NBC is the most "demanding" of their interns...whoa...that's kind of scary, but we'll see how high they ask me to jump..ok nevermind, it's already 230am here in the Big Apple, I think things may be dying down, but who knows?
Let me know what you think of my new blog...leave me comments (aka, show me some love)
peace out!

"6th avenue heartache"--the wallflowers

hey hey hey
well it's my 1st real day in the Big Apple. I've been hanging out with my dad, doing tourist-y things i suppose, for me, it's mostly exploring, so i know where and what to do when i actually have a free minute. Anyways, I've walked nonstop today...wheee...

First off, we had lunch by my dad's hotel, and then walked over to Rockefeller Center, so I could know where I was going my first day of work. Once we got there, I realized that yes, I would be in trouble, as well as my wallet when I realized it was in the center of massive shopping areas!! yes, i am about half a block from 5th avenue, and just in the middle of a plethora of stores. Of course, the NBC building is awesome, on the bottom floor, there is a Starbucks and plenty of edible food, so send your Starbucks cards and Subway stamps my way, little friends! We then walked down to Grand Central Station, back to the Lambs, and then back to Grand Central Station, bought my 30 day metro pass, then took the subway down the financial district, walked down Wall St, and then walked to Ground Zero. It was interesting. The only thing that bugs me is that here are people walking around taking pictures of it...I guess I figured people would have more respect. Why do you want pictures of that? I don't know, that's just me.

Anyways, we took a cab back, and drove down 6th avenue, where I found the dinky little faux purse vendors and several other stores I know my mother would just love. Also, i got excited because down the block from me is a store called "Pink"! how weird is that??! lol. Anyways, we rested some at my dad's and then went over to Grand Central again to partake in the Oyster Bar. Dang, that was a lot of oysters, and the shrimp cocktail was like absolutely massive. The shrimp were just huge.

Anyways, we walked around down 5th avenue, but most of the stores were closed, so we ventured down the Empire State building, but do you know it costs liek an arm and a leg just to take an elevator up to the top...so we walked back, found some more shops and my dad dropped me off. It's about 9pm here, and i'm so tired of walking. I still have to unpack some stuff. But anyway, I think I might venture into the common room, see what's going on there.

Miss you guys!!

Peace out
see YA

new york, new york

Well I suppose I should start keeping track of my activities here in the Big Apple...my dad and i left texas today around 1230pm, and got here in NYC at about 630pm. I, unfortunately, got to sit next to 2 little girls from houston to la guardia, and i've had better flights, let me tell ya. whatever...

So we got all of my 100 lbs of luggage and got a cab to the Lambs downtown. Wow, they really aren't kidding when they say that we're in the heart of everything. Anyway, we came upstairs, and i got my keys and all that good stuff, then my dad and i went to get him checked into his hotel. That was of course, a fiasco because Orbitz hadn't gotten the reservations and everything, but whatever. I had a meeting to be at, at 9pm and so my dinner consisted of some McDonalds. It's not as scary as I thought out here, there's a faux purse vendor a block away, so I am content.

This place is like a weird hotel/dorm. It's in a U-shape and luckily my room isn't one of the "jail cells", it's a little bigger, and you could actually sit and turn around in it. Unfortunately, as we all know, the wireless connection sucks, so right now I'm on the community computers. I will get my mom to send me my regular internet card and ethernet cable (how could i have forgotten?) ASAP!!! i need my internet, (as we all know)

Anyways, I think tonight, I'm going to unpack some, but also perhaps going to see "Garden State"...Finally a city where they show all kinds of movies, mainstream AND independant!!! yay!

Anyways, peace out
Call me y'all!

Missin' Texas already!!! :(
